Indian bishop raps Pakistan for failure to protect Christians

September 24, 2013

A Catholic bishop in India has criticized the government of neighboring Pakistan for its failure to secure the safety of the country’s Christian minority.

“The failure of the authorities is discouraging and a cause of great concern,” said Bishop Thomas Dabre of Poona, responding to a massacre of Christians in Peshawar. He said that the willingness to protect minorities is a test of a nation’s integrity.

Bishop Dabre has ordered all of the churches of his diocese to remember the victims of the Peshawar massacre at Masses on Sunday, September 29.
