Another first for Episcopalians

By Phil Lawler (bio - articles - email) | May 05, 2014

Gene Robinson is now the first member of the Episcopalian hierarchy who has divorced one partner of each sex. So he speaks from experience, if not from authority, when he offers this curious testimony to the revised understanding of marriage:

Love can endure, even if a marriage cannot.

That’s not exactly the vision of marital fidelity you’ll find in Matthew 19:5-6. But then if we're going to be citing Bible passages, Robinson is not the model bishop portrayed in 1 Tim 3:2.
