“When He began to cry / she got up and gave Him milk; / she embraced Him as she sang to Him, / swaying her knees until He became still.”
St. Ephrem—a Father and Doctor of the Church considered by many to be the greatest hymnographer the Church has ever seen—is perhaps best remembered for his hymns on Christmas and Epiphany. Listeners can be sure, then, that this reading of Ephrem’s Marian hymn on the Nativity is a real Christmas treat. Merry Christmas!
