On The News

a temporary goodbye

By Phil Lawler (bio - articles - send a comment) | July 09, 2010 3:57 PM

When I close down the office this evening, I'm going to begin doing something that I haven't done yet in this century: taking a complete break from Catholic news coverage.

For the next two weeks, my wife Leila and I, accompanied by daughter Bridget, will be taking a long-overdue vacation in Ireland. CWN news coverage will continue, but-- barring a major breaking story that drags me back to work-- my commentary will cease. I hope to be back in action, rested and restored, on July 26.

A special note for our Irish readers: There's one bit of business on my agenda for my trip. On Wednesday, July 21, I'll be giving a talk sponsored by the Irish Catholic, at the Camden Court Hotel in Dublin at 7:30 pm, on the topic: "Hope after the scandals: renewing the Church." Attendance is free of charge, but places are limited and bookings are now being taken. If you would like to attend please call 01.427.6486 or email info@irishcatholic.ie
