Pope Benedict has just officially released his new guidelines governing Catholic charities. The topic has been much in the news owing to two critical factors: Failures on the part of some charities to adhere to Catholic teaching; and pressures by some governments against the implementation of Catholic teachings in charitable work.
You can study the entire motu proprio here: Intima Ecclesiae Natura. The English title is The Service of Charity.
It also turns out that the ordination of women is back in the news, but partly because ecclesiastical discipline is catching up. See for example:
- National Catholic Reporter defies Vatican, calls for women's ordination
- Jesuit suspended after joining female 'priest' for liturgy
