Longtime CWN correspondent Anto Akkara has released a new book on the valiant loyalty of Christians under persecution in India's Kandhamal region. His work, Shining Faith in Kandhamal, was introduced to the press in Mumbai on October 15, at a news conference chaired by Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, the president of the Indian bishops' conference.
The Christians of Kandhamal were “humiliated and tortured but they stood firm in their faith," remarked Cardinal Vithayathil. And the book's author "reveals a true journalist who cannot remain a mute spectator in the face of inhuman atrocities."

Shining Faith in Kandhamal provides the vivid testimony of Christians who suffered in the jungles, witnessed killing and torture, and endured pressure to renounce their faith. The book is currently available only in India, but Anto Akkara is working to produce an international edition.
