Milingo continues recruiting married priests for new sect

April 11, 2011

Emmanual Milingo, the renegade archbishop who was excommunicated in 2006 and laicized in 2009, continues to encourage Catholic priests to marry and join a sect that he leads.

Presiding at the ordination of a new bishop for his sect in Kenya, Milingo made the preposterous claim that over 150,000 priests—well over a third of the total number of Catholic priests in the world—have joined his Ecumenical Catholic Apostolic Church of Peace. Last year Milingo proclaimed himself the patriarch of that body, which has apparently won financial backing from the Unification Church.
