Former National Review Board chairman resigns from Franciscan University board following Obama endorsement
October 09, 2008
Civil and canon lawyer Dr. Nicholas Cafardi, former dean of Duquesne University’s law school and onetime chairman of the US bishops’ National Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People, has resigned from the board of Franciscan University of Steubenville. ‘The University does not believe the abortion battle is lost, as Dr. Cafardi states, but that the tide is decidedly turning in favor of life,’ noted a statement issued by the university, but ‘strongly encourages its ... constituents to view the life issues ... as foundational, and as issues that do not lend themselves to the prudential judgment of the voter.’
