Cardinal backs Pregnant Women Support Act

Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia, chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, is urging members of the House of Representatives to back the Pregnant Women Support Act, sponsored by Rep. Lincoln Davis (D-TN). Among other provisions, the legislation would prevent insurance companies from defining pregnancy as a “pre-existing condition” that could be used to deny health coverage to women.
