Court orders St. Louis archdiocese to produce 20 years of documents on abuse
March 11, 2015
A Missouri court has ordered the St. Louis archdiocese to produce confidential documents regarding sex-abuse allegations, covering a period of the last 20 years.
The documents are to be released in connection with a lawsuit filed by the parents of a young man who committed suicide in 2009; his parents say that the suicide was a consequence of abuse by a priest of the archdiocese. The court accepted an argument from plaintiff’s attorneys that the archdiocesan documents could show a pattern of covering up abuse and reassigning accused priests.
