New papal plea for peace in Ukraine

Pope Francis renewed his plea for peace in Ukraine, at the conclusion of his Sunday public audience on January 25.

The Pope said that he has been following “with deep concern the escalation of the clashes in east Ukraine, which continue to claim many victims among the civilian population.” He promised his prayers for all those involved, while adding “my heartfelt appeal for the resumption of attempts at dialogue in order to bring an end to the hostilities.”
