Pakistan: 59 in custody for horrific murder of Christian couple
December 17, 2014
Six weeks after a Pakistani Christian husband and wife were detained by a mob for two days, had their legs broken, and were burned to death in a brick kiln, 59 people are in custody and 79 are at large.
The murders took place after a Muslim alleged the wife had burned pages of the Qur’an.
The Pakistani bishops’ conference has asked the nation’s chief justice to press charges against Muslim clerics “responsible for inciting violence against the couple through calls on mosque loudspeakers,” a Pakistani newspaper reported.
