Central African Republic’s ‘descent into hell’ continues, bishops say
December 02, 2014
The armed conflict in the Central African Republic that began two years ago ushered in a “descent into hell” that continues to this day, the nation’s bishops said in an Advent message.
“The people are still held hostage by armed groups,” and “insecurity still forces many people to flee their homes and villages to take refuge in makeshift camps,” the bishops stated, according to a Fides report.
“It seems that some have fun scattering weapons among the population,” the bishops added. “It is an extremely dangerous game, which is not conducive to social cohesion.”
