NY farm owners pay fine for saying no to lesbian wedding

November 12, 2014

The owners of an Albany-area farm and wedding venue have paid a $13,000 fine levied by the state’s Division of Human Rights after they declined to host a lesbian wedding.

Robert and Cynthia Gifford have also decided not to host weddings in the future, the Associated Press reported.

“To stay true to their religious beliefs, they could not accept any more ceremonies,” their attorney said. “The judge just ignored all our constitutional and religious arguments.”
