Benghazi bishop asks for prayers as army, Islamists battle
October 16, 2014
As the Libyan army battles with Islamist militants for the control of Benghazi, the city’s apostolic vicar said that frightened residents have locked themselves in their homes.
“The population is locked in the house while there is ongoing fighting in the outlying areas of the city,” Bishop Sylvester Carmel Magro told the Fides news agency. “The bombings began in the early morning today … Please pray for us.”
