Christ is cleansing Ukraine, says Church leader

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church said recently that amid the strife that is afflicting Ukraine, Christ is cleansing the nation.
“There is a great cleansing which is taking place,” Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk said during a recent pastoral visit to Australia.
“Christ, maybe, in such an unpleasant and painful for us way, is cleansing the mind and the heart of the current citizen of an independent Ukraine,” he added. “These days we see how one after the other, Lenin monuments are falling down … A wave of cleansing is sweeping Ukraine. Yet, it is costing us the blood of our heroes, our soldiers.”
