Police in Burundi have made an arrest in connection with the murder of three Italian missionary nuns.
Authorities say that the suspect-- who was found carrying the cell phone of one of the murder victims and keys to the convent in which the crime took place—has confessed to the killings.
Originally police has said that the killings probably occurred during a botched robbery. But that explanation now seems unlikely, since nothing of value was taken from the convent where the Xaverian nuns were killed. The ferocity of the attacks—described by a local leader as “savage”—also suggests a different motive.
