India's Cardinal Gracias asks political leader to ensure equal treatment of Christians
Catholic World News - October 21, 2013
At a meeting with Sonia Gandhi, the head of India’s ruling coalition, Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Mumbai asked for equal treatment of all citizens, regardless of religious faith.
Cardinal Gracias said that he did not seek any special favors for Christians, but “only justice, equality, and protection for all citizens, as guaranteed by the constitution of our country.” Christians in several Indian states have suffered violent assaults by Hindu nationalists.
