New Jersey pastor resigns after allowing youth ministry by Father Fugee
May 08, 2013
The Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey, has announced the resignation of a pastor who allowed a troubled priest of the neighboring Newark archdiocese to engage in youth ministry.
Father Michael Fugee participated in youth activities in a parish in Colts Neck, despite an agreement with prosecutors under which he was barred from unsupervised youth ministry. Father Fugee recently resigned from active ministry.
The Trenton diocese—which had already announced that Father Fugee’s work at the Colts Neck parish had not been authorized by the diocese—said on May 7 that the pastor, Father Thomas Triggs, has resigned.
