New trial likely for 2nd priest in Philadelphia sex-abuse case
CWN - July 23, 2012
Prosecutors in Philadelphia have reportedly decided to seek a new trial of Father James Brennan, whose first trial on rape charges ended in a hung jury in June.
Father Brennan was tried alongside Msgr. William Lynn, who was eventually found guilty of endangering children. The jury in the case, after deliberating for several days, told the court that it could not reach agreement on a verdict. Pressed by the judge to continue discussions, the jury delivered a guilty verdict for Msgr. Lynn, but still could not reach accord regarding the charges against Father Brennan.
