Philippines: 3 million Catholics in procession despite terrorist threats
January 09, 2012
Three million Filipinos took part in an annual procession in Manila in honor of the Black Nazarene--a 17th-century statue of Christ--despite a warning by the nation’s president that terrorists might attack the event.
An estimated 15,000 police were present at the procession, and cell phones were banned.
