Vatican newspaper pays tribute to art historian Schlosser

The year 2011 marks the centenary of Julius von Schlosser’s work on wax portraiture, L’Osservatore Romano noted in an August 30 article. Schlosser (1866-1938) was the leader of the Viennese school of art history; towards the end of his life, he became a member of the Nazi party.
