CWN - May 23, 2011

In an op-ed column for the Washington Post, Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington makes the provocative argument that the Catholic Church is ready to show the way in a drive to end child abuse in society:

This tragedy has to end, but how? The answer may come from the Catholic Church clergy abuse scandal and a landmark study of the causes a d a landmark study of the causes and context just released by the John Jay College of Criminal Jus Their findings are relevant not only to the church, but to every parent and every organizati John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Hope springs eternal. I think it is safe to say we all hope and pray that the good Cardinal will soon be correct. But he is not correct today. Unfortunately, until the real cause is actually explored, and not glossed over in a PC whitewash, that hope is rather dim.
