Swiss Guard recruits prepare for swearing-in ceremony
CWN - May 05, 2011
A group of 34 new members of the Swiss Guard will be sworn in at a Vatican ceremony on May 5.
The annual swearing-in ceremony marks the anniversary of the date in 1527 when 147 members of the Swiss Guard died in the (successful) defense of Pope Clement VII during the sack of Rome.
