Catholic Recipe: Chicken Paprika

    INGREDIENTS

  • 1 frying chicken (3 pounds), cut up
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 pint dairy sour cream

Paprika is the spice of Hungary! This chicken is cooked over the stove, and requires only one turning of the chicken.

DIRECTIONS

Wash chicken; dry well. Heat vegetable oil in large skillet over moderate heat; brown onions. Add paprika and chicken; sprinkle with salt. Cover; cook over very low heat 1 hour, until tender, turning after first 1/2 hour. Spoon sour cream over chicken; heat to serving temperature. Makes 6 servings.
