Judge Nicholas Ranjan, appointed to the bench by President Donald Trump, ruled that “Congress clearly intended for Title VII’s religious exemptions not to apply to religiously motivated sex discrimination.”

A priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky, resigned from his parish after a former janitor alleged in a lawsuit that he dismissed claims she was being assaulted by her lay supervisor at the parish.The woman alleged in her lawsuit that Father David Sanchez said he was “very good friends” with the supervisor, that she was “lying about her claims,” and that “her family would be threatened” if she reported the alleged incidents.
Archbishop Shelton Fabre placed Father Sanchez on administrative leave.

Holy See calls for international cooperation to combat transnational organized crime
A Vatican diplomat emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating organized crime.Addressing a conference of the Organization of American States (OAS), Msgr. Juan Antonio Cruz Serrano, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the OAS, also emphasized the importance of “placing the human person at the center of security strategies” and “investing in prevention and protection,” according to Vatican News.
In its report, Vatican News, the news agency of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication, inaccurately referred to Msgr. Cruz as an archbishop. According to the Annuario Pontificio, the priest was named a monsignor in 2017 but has not been appointed a bishop.
US State Department condemns attack on Catholic Relief Services convoy in Ethiopia
The U.S. State Department’s Under Secretary for Foreign Assistance, Humanitarian Affairs, and Religious Freedom denounced a drone strike on a Catholic Relief Services “convoy carrying lifesaving humanitarian assistance to people in Tigray,” an Ethiopian region.“Humanitarian workers and civilian populations must be protected,” the statement continued. “We call for the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to those who need it most.”
The statement did not identify the perpetrator of the attack, which came amid renewed fighting between Ethiopia’s government and Tigray separatists.
