Woman religious to write meditations for Way of the Cross on Good Friday
CWN - March 28, 2011
Pope Benedict XVI has chosen an Augustinian nun, Mother Maria Rita Piccione, to write the meditations that will be read during the Way of the Cross on Good Friday at the Colosseum in Rome.
Pope Benedict himself will carry the cross and lead the procession around the Stations of the Cross for the traditional evening ceremony. Mother Piccione is the third woman to be selected to write the meditations; Pope John Paul II had twice accorded the honor to women religious.
