Abuse-victims' lawyer takes out TV ads seeking new clients
March 04, 2011
Jeffrey Anderson, the Minnesota lawyer who has won million of dollars in sex-abuse payments from the Catholic Church, has begun running television advertisements in the Wisconsin area, recruiting new clients to join in suing the Milwaukee archdiocese.
Anderson claims that it is "a moral and legal imperative" to find as many victims of clerical abuse as he can, before bankruptcy proceedings block any new lawsuits against the archdiocese.
In addition to winning courtroom victories for sex-abuse victims, Anderson has demonstrated a knack for using national media outlets to call attention to his charges against the Catholic Church. During the past year he has expanded his sights, attempting-- thus far unsuccessfully-- to draw in the Vatican and Pope Benedict as defendants in new lawsuits.
