European Parliament to monitor treatment of Iraqi Christians
CWN - December 28, 2010
The president of the European Parliament has promised to keep a careful watch on the conditions facing Christians in Iraq.
After meeting with a delegation of Iraqi Church leaders, members of the European Parliament vowed to press for action to ensure the human rights of Iraq’s religious minority, and make appropriate safeguards a condition for new European aid. Jerzy Buzek, the president of the European Parliament, said that he would “monitor the situation closely, I will continue to highlight the issue.”
