US embassy official rapped Vatican PR strategy in Wikileaks memo
CWN - December 15, 2010
An official at the US embassy to the Holy See wrote that the Vatican has no “comprehensive communication strategy,” in one of the confidential diplomatic messages made public by Wikileaks.
The memo is a prime example of the results from the Wikileaks revelations. Although the American diplomat, Julieta Valls Noyes, may be embarrassed because her report has been made public, the actual content of her message was unremarkable. Few informed observers will be surprised to see candid criticism of the Vatican’s approach to communications, at the end of a year marked by multiple public-relations debacles.
