South Africa: Catholic AIDS workers offer condoms, cite Pope
CWN - December 02, 2010
Catholic Church officials working against AIDS in South Africa are using the words of Pope Benedict XVI to justify the distribution of condoms, according to an AP report.
The AP story quotes a Catholic priest, Father Didier Lemaire, as saying: “What the Pope is saying, many priests have been saying for a long time.” But the Pope never said that priests should do what Father Lemaire apparently does: offer condoms for visitors.
