Man imprisoned for touching Qur’an with dirty hands released
CWN - November 29, 2010
Munir Masih, a Pakistani Christian sentenced to 25 years in prison for blasphemy, has been released on bail by order of the Lahore High Court, which is expected to overturn the verdict. Masih was accused by his neighbor of touching the Qur’an with dirty hands-- a charge he denies. Masih’s wife, also sentenced to 25 years in prison, is expected to be released soon as well.
Asia Bibi, the Christian woman sentenced to death on blasphemy charges after she refused to convert to Islam, remains in prison despite an international outcry on her behalf.
