England sees surge in seminary entries

The number of young men entering English seminaries this year hit a 10-year high.
The enrollment of 56 new candidates for the priesthood came in September, just as Pope Benedict was visiting the United Kingdom. The Pope's appearances probably were not a major factor, however; the results of the papal trip would not be evident so quickly. Church officials attribute the increase to successful recruiting efforts.
