England sees surge in seminary entries

November 17, 2010

The number of young men entering English seminaries this year hit a 10-year high.

The enrollment of 56 new candidates for the priesthood came in September, just as Pope Benedict was visiting the United Kingdom. The Pope's appearances probably were not a major factor, however; the results of the papal trip would not be evident so quickly. Church officials attribute the increase to successful recruiting efforts.

Please. Not recruiting efforts. Men responding to God's call to serve him as priests.
