Israel charges Nazareth imam with inciting violence against Pope
November 09, 2010
Israeli authorities have charged Nazim Mahmoud Salim, the imam of the mosque in Nazareth, with inciting violence against Pope Benedict during the Pontiff’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land in May 2009.
“The Pope prepares himself at the gate of the Vatican and at the head of a crusade against the Islamic world,” the imam said at the time. “We will expel the Pope from Nazareth.”
