Mohammed is UK’s most popular baby name

Mohammed, combined with variant spellings, was most popular baby boy’s name in the United Kingdom in 2009. “It shows that Islam is here to stay in Britain. Islam is here to stay in Europe,” said Imam Abdullah al-Hasan of the East London Mosque. “It’s not alien from the Western society. It’s not alien to the British context.”
4.6% of the residents of the United Kingdom are Muslim.
