California priest may be subject of reality TV show

October 18, 2010

A priest of the Diocese of San Bernardino, in conjunction with a television production company, is seeking to become the subject of a reality television show. The show, at present entitled “Divine Intervention,” has been filmed and is being marketed to television networks.

“I often say if the Bible were written today, no one would publish it, and what’s more, no government would allow it to be published because there's not just the sexy stuff in there, there’s also radical revolutionary stuff in there, and no government would want to read that and think, ‘This is about me,’” says Father Steve Porter.

Oh,this may end badly. Fulton Sheen pioneered the presence of the priest on TV when there was a tremendous hate for the Catholic Church. The hate is still there, but TV creates cult personalities. Is Fr. Porter immune to that exposure?

Fine, as long as the TV camera is not in the confessional booth!
