Sudan’s cardinal survives assassination attempt

Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako of Khartoum survived an assassination attempt on October 10 while celebrating Mass, according to Sudan Catholic Radio.
During the Mass, a man carrying a dagger ran towards the cardinal. The cardinal’s master of ceremonies apprehended the man and took away the dagger. The cardinal was not injured, and Hamdan Mohamed Abdurrahman is now in police custody.
