Pope leaves summer residence, returns to Vatican

CWN - September 30, 2010

Pope Benedict XVI said his farewells to the staff of the apostolic palace at Castel Gandolfo on September 30, as he prepared for his return to the Vatican.

The Pope assured the staff at his summer residence of his “constant recollection in my prayers.” He encouraged them to maintain their own active prayer lives and to read the Bible regularly, “reading it not as a word of the past, but as a living Word addressed to us today.”

Pope Benedict returned to the Vatican on Thursday evening, ending his summer stay at Castel Gandolfo.
