Gay-rights lobbying group not 'legitimately Catholic,' archbishop warns
CWN - September 22, 2010
A group called “Catholics for Equality,” which lobbied for admission of overt homosexuals into the US military forces, “cannot be legitimately recognized as Catholic,” according to the archbishop who heads the US military ordinariate.
Archbishop Timothy Broglio objected to an effort by “Catholics for Equality” to influence legislators. The group had encouraged lawmakers—and especially Catholic lawmakers—to ignore “misinformed dictates for Rome.” Regarding homosexuality, Archbishop Broglio said that the teaching of the Catholic Church, and the position of the ordinariate for the armed forces, is clear.
