Chile: Priest stabbed while distributing Holy Communion
CWN - June 22, 2010
Father José Francisco Nuñez Calisto, a parish priest of the south-central Chilean Archdiocese of Puerto Montt, was stabbed in the neck on June 18 while distributing Holy Communion during Mass. Noting that the faithful of the parish had not ceased to pray for the priest and “make reparation for the profantion of the Blessed Sacrament,” Archbishop Cristián Caro Cordero issued a statement thanking medical personnel and added that he was praying for the attacker.
