CWN Editor's Note: Two people were killed in an explosion near Munyonyo Martyrs’ Shrine in Kampala on June 3, as Catholic began gathering there to celebrate the feast of the Ugandan martyrs, St. Charles Lwanga and his companions.

Police explained that two suicide bombers, wearing explosive vests, were seeking access to the shrine. They were stopped and “neutralized” by an anti-terror unit that had advance knowledge of their plan.

Police restricted access to the shrine immediately after the plot was discovered, but said celebrations of the feast would continue under heavy guard.
