US bishops’ conference part of coalition that backs Kagan for Supreme Court

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is a member of a coalition that is supporting the nomination of Elena Kagan to the United States Supreme Court.
“The President has nominated someone who is extremely well-qualified and who understands the lives of ordinary Americans. The daughter of a housing lawyer and school teacher, and herself a committed educator and public servant, Elena Kagan understands the effects of the courts' decisions on ordinary people,” said Wade Henderson, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. “We believe she will uphold the Constitution and the law to provide equal justice and protect personal freedoms for everyone in America, not just a few.”
The USCCB is one of more than 200 organizations that belong to the coalition.

To quote the Joker from Batman: "[The USCCB] needs an enema!" At the very least, it should be disbanded as the bureaucratic nightmare that it is and by the way not called for by the documents (as opposed to the twisted "spirit") of Vatican II.

I would go further on withdrawal from this questionable coalition - USCCB should review and publicly announce its policy on being a part of any coalition, also on supporting any institution and organization, especially those claiming to be Catholic. USCCB have been trapped to represent "bad companies" in many instances, and it's time to show the leadership and deliver a clear message who follows the Church teaching.

It’s time to disband the USCCB. Where’s the “Catholic” in this group? They do not seem to be promoters of orthodoxy, guided by the Holy Spirit. Rather, the bishops appear to follow the political winds, winds of political correctness and social justice (code for socialism). The bishops just don’t get it. The “ism” that gives people the greatest opportunity to have a better life is Capitalism. I remain true to the Bark of Peter in spite of the bishops.

If the USCCB does not take principled exception to that Coalition statement, or withdraw completely from the Coalition, it is taking the side of those who crucify the Lord anew.

After the glimmer of hope, too.... Maybe this is another instance of one person or a group of people in the administration of the USCCB which has a different agenda from the Catholic Church and has made the statement without the support of the bishops. I pray we hear from bishops who correct this.
