Chinese bishop ordained with approval of Holy See, government

With the approval both of the Holy See and of the Chinese government, Father Joseph Cai Bingrui, 44, was ordained Bishop of Xiamen on May 8. The southeastern Chinese city has a population of 2.5 million. Present at the Mass was retired Archbishop Joseph Cheng Tsai-fa of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
