UK Foreign Office suspends official for memo ridiculing Pope

The British Foreign Office has suspended an official who authorized the distribution of a memorandum that ridiculed Pope Benedict XVI. The satirical memo, suggesting that the Pope might want to "open an abortion ward" during his September visit to the United Kingdom, had outraged Catholics and forced an apology from the government.
