Niger: Majority of people running out of food, warns Caritas
CWN - April 23, 2010
Caritas, the international consortium of Catholic relief agencies, is warning that the West African nation of Niger is running out of food. Seeking to provide food to 250,000 people there, Caritas notes that “some 7.8 million people, or nearly 60% of Niger's population, are running out of food according to the national survey conducted by Niger’s government in December.”
80% of the nation’s 13.4 million people are Muslim; only 0.13% are Catholic.
