Accused of physical abuse, German bishop apologizes
CWN - April 21, 2010
Three weeks after five former residents of a Catholic children’s home accused Bishop Walter Mixa of Augsburg of physically abusing them in the 1970s and 1980s, the prelate offered an apology.
“It hurts my heart that so many people have been caused grief,” he said, weeks after his spokesman had said that the diocese reserved the right to press charges or file a civil suit against the accusers. “I ask for forgiveness.”
