Investigation of Father Maciel highlights ties to former Vatican Secretary of State

An investigative report on the influence wielded by the late Father Marcial Maciel, the founder of the Legion of Christ, shows that the disgraced Mexican priest had built up close ties to Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the former Secretary of State. Jason Berry of the National Catholic Reporter notes Cardinal Sodano's support for Father Maciel, as well as further details of the double life led by the Legionaries' founder.
