Texas: Priest accused of raping teenage boy at gunpoint
CWN - April 09, 2010
A lawsuit filed against the Archdiocese of San Antonio alleges that a priest of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity repeatedly assaulted a teenage boy during 2008 and once raped him at gunpoint.
Archbishop José Gomez suspended the faculties of Father John Fiala in October 2008 for interfering in a child custody manner. An archdiocesan official says the archdiocese was unaware of any abuse at the time, while the victim’s attorneys said that the mother repeatedly told archdiocesan officials about her suspicions of abuse.
Father Fiala is no longer in ministry, according to the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.
