Salvadoran party leader gave order for Archbishop Romero's murder

CWN - April 06, 2010

Roberto D'Aubuisson, the founder of a conservative political party in El Salvador, gave the order for the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero, according to a retired army officer who admits participating in the killing. D'Aubuission, the founder of the ARENA party, had long been suspected of involvement with Salvadoran death squads and particularly with the archbishop's assassination. An unsuccessful presidential candidate in 1984, D'Aubuisson died of cancer in 1992.
