Chinese police have arrested Father Kiu Maochun, a priest of the "underground" Catholic Church in Fujian, who helped organize a camp for university students. Another organizer of the same effort, Father John Baptist Luo Wen, was arrested earlier this month, then released after 15 days. Two other priests who were active in the camp are now expecting arrest.
The arrest came, perhaps significantly, as the Vatican's commission on the Church in China was meeting in Rome. There are dozens of Catholic priests still in prison in China, along with three bishops.
